On August 26, 2004 his 44th birthday, Mr. Arredondo was told by three Marine officers that his son, Alexander Arredondo, was killed in Iraq. During that month, Carlos Arredondos' son had just turned 20 years old. As a reaction to this news, Carlos Arredondo set the Marine van on fire while he was inside and suffered severe burns.
